First-party data trackers can follow user activity and store information on the visited app, while third-party trackers send information to companies and external parties to provide targeted advertising. On average, the examined mobile apps had the possibility to use ** third-party trackers, while this number decreased in the case of social media apps, with only **** third-party trackers on average.
