In 2021, a large majority of the U.S. public favored allowing the federal government to negotiate with drug companies for lower prescription drug prices for Medicare beneficiaries and those privately insured. The United States have, by far, the highest drug prices on average compared to other countries. The public is growing unsatisfied with the high prices and are in favor of the government stepping in.
