*For a measure to be publicly reported, data must be provided to CMS by at least 25 states and meet CMS standards for data quality.
These measures address the following domains of care:
• Primary Care Access and Preventive Care
• Maternal and Perinatal Health
• Care of Acute and Chronic Conditions
• Behavioral Health Care
• Long-Term Services & Supports (adult only)
• Dental and Oral Health Services (child only)

Citation formats

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) established a set of health care quality measures to improve the quality of care for children in Medicaid and CHIP (child core set) and another set of measures for adults (adult core set). State reports have so far been voluntary, but will be mandatory starting FY 2024. In 2020, there were 24 measures in the child core set and 33 measures in the adult core set comprising of physical, mental, maternal, and access to health.
