CHIP (Title XIX and Title XXI) health consumption expenditure = Health Consumption Expenditures(HCE), it represents spending for all medical care during the year, and is the sum of PHC, government public health activity, and government administration and the net cost of health insurance. For the case of CHIP, there was no difference in HCE value vs. national health expenditure (NHE) which includes HCE plus investment.
In 2023, the Children’s Health Insurance Program spent a total of about 24.7 billion U.S. dollars on health care. This has risen from just over one billion U.S. dollars in health expenditure from the previous year. This statistic illustrates CHIP health expenditure from 2000 to 2023.
