The NOW (Tijdelijke Noodmaatregel Overbrugging Werkgelegenheid) was implemented to help employers bridge over the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by offering aid to combat expected financial losses, ensuring that companies could keep their staff employed.

NOW 1.0 lasted from March to May, 2020
NOW 2.0 lasted from June to September, 2020
NOW 3.1 lasted from October to December, 2020
NOW 3.2 lasted from January to March, 2021
NOW 3.3 lasted from April to June, 2021
NOW 4.0 lasted from July to September, 2021

In March of 2020, the Dutch government introduced a wage cost scheme to help employers pay for the wages of their employees during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which they called the NOW (Tijdelijke Noodmaatregel Overbrugging Werkgelegenheid). For the first installment of this, the NOW 1.0, *** thousand companies applied for and received this financial compensation. This was less so for the NOW 2.0 as only ** thousand companies received it. The NOW *** and *** were more used, with ** and ** thousand respectively. The NOW *** and NOW *** were used least with ** thousand and ** thousand.
