As of March 31, 2024, Japan counted *** class-1 correspondence delivery service businesses, representing the most common service type. Class-1 service is the delivery of correspondence items with dimensions exceeding ** centimeters or weight surpassing **** kilograms. Reforming its postal services in 2007, Japan introduced permits for corporations to engage in designated segments of the correspondence delivery business on which the public administration formerly had a monopoly.
