The value of direct investments made by sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) worldwide decreased steadily from 2015 and 2019. However, as of 2020, SWFs' direct annual investments increased sharply compared to the previous year, reaching a value of almost ** billion U.S. dollars. The growth was mainly driven by increase in direct investments of hybrid and development/strategic SWFs.
