In 2021, PT Sinar Kencana Inti Perkasa planted their oil palm in **** thousand hectares of conservation areas in Indonesia, despite being a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). There were almost 100 RSPO member companies in Indonesia with over 100 hectares planted in the forest estate. Forest estate in Indonesia includes conservation forest, protected forest, and production forest. These areas are not supposed to be planted with oil palm therefore making this practice illegal.
