Huawei’s domestic recovery 

Huawei is one of China’s largest technology companies and remains a global leader in telecom infrastructure and enterprise IT solutions despite ongoing geopolitical headwinds. U.S. trade restrictions, particularly on access to advanced chips and chip manufacturing technologies, significantly impacted Huawei’s smartphone business, reducing its market share both internationally and domestically. Once among the global leading smartphone vendors, Huawei is now mainly China-focused, but is regaining its domestic smartphone market share thanks to the success of its Mate 60 series.  

Chinese smartphone market  

Smartphone shipments in China reached more than *** million units in 2024. In 2025, China’s smartphone market was projected to generate more than *** billion U.S. dollars in revenue. While the market is dominated by domestic brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, and Vivo, international vendor Apple maintains a strong presence. As of 2024, Apple’s iPhone models remained the most used 5G smartphones in China.Ìý
