In 2021, ** percent of French people of the Muslim faith were supportive of the general principle of public funding of religious services, compared to ** percent of those without religious affiliation. Support for this principle was substantially higher among residents of the Alsace-Moselle region (except for Muslims), where the concordat regime, in force between 1802 and 1905 in France, is still in effect.
