In March 2004, the French government approved a law prohibiting students from wearing conspicuous religious symbols at school. Twenty years later, according to a survey conducted in March 2024, a large majority of the French population is still in favor of this law. Indeed, around ***percent of those surveyed declared themselves to be somehow in favor of it.
