Going into the Second World War, industry contributed to slightly more than 21 percent of the Hungary's gross national product, while agriculture was responsible for 37 percent; by 1967, these shares had almost exactly reversed. The construction and transport sectors also saw their shares of GNP contribution grow significantly.
