In a survey on sexism conducted in Italy in 2021, female respondents seemed to recognize sexist situations more often than their male counterparts. For instance, a larger percentage of female interviewees pointed to sexist work-related situations, such as when a job ads exclude or discourage people of a specific gender to apply for that position. Similarly, female respondents stressed that it was sexist when it would be assumed in a work environment that a person could not be able to take on responsible roles due to family commitment or planning. In addition, ** percent of female and only ** percent of male respondents found it sexist that victims of sexual crimes and crimes committed by a partner were to blame for the crime.
