Sexual violence is any sexual act or attempt to obtain a sexual act by violence or coercion, acts to traffic a person or acts directed against a person's sexuality, regardless of the relationship to the victim. Between 2006 and 2014, the number of sexual violence cases reported to the authorities in Italy increased. In 2024, 6,831 rapes occurred in the country.
