Tourist beaches had the highest share of microplastics pollution along the Kanyakumari coast in India in 2020, with nearly 150 particles found on beach sediments. On an average about 43 particles per 50 grams of dry sediments was found along this coast. Unsurprisingly, the coastal stretches along the undisturbed areas had the least microplastic pollution.
