The source adds the following information : "In order to refine the results for the general public, strata of living standards were constituted by applying an INSEE calculation method that cross-references household income with the number of adults and children in the household.
The results of the survey could thus be broken down into the following six classes:
- "High income" which represents 8% of the population
- "Wealthy categories" which represent 11% of the population
- "Upper middle classes" which represent 18% of the population
- "Lower middle classes" which represent 27% of the population
- "Lower classes" which represent 18% of the population
- "Poor classes" which represent 18% of the population"

As the French are preparing to spend Christmas holidays disrupted and marked by the measures of social distancing announced by the French government following the Coronavirus crisis, the association Dons Solidaires has commissioned IFOP to conduct a survey on their purchasing intentions in terms of Christmas gifts. The source wanted to measure the impact of the current context on their budget for Christmas gifts, as renouncing purchases during the holiday season can be an indicator of precariousness. And, it appears that one out of two parents in poor families will spend less than ** euros on Christmas presents for their children (compared to less than one out of ten in the wealthier classes).
