Sweetened drinks include soft drink, cordials, sports drinks or caffeinated energy drinks. May include soft drinks in ready to drink alcoholic beverages. Excludes fruit juice, flavored milk, 'sugar free' drinks, or coffee / hot tea.

In the 2021 financial year, around 80 percent of children aged 2 to 17 years in Australia did not consume sweetened drinks at all. Around 12 percent of children consumed sugary drinks every one to three days and around 3.4 percent had a sweetened drink daily.
