The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic hit hardly the tourism industry worldwide, as several countries had to impose national lockdowns and restrict non-essential travels in order to limit the spread of the outbreak. In Italy, according to a survey involving ** hotel facilities, it is expected that the domestic MICE segment will be the slowest to recover in the hotel industry. Data show that about seven in ten respondents expected that the domestic segment of meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions will be unlikely to recover soon once the pandemic will be over. By contrast, more positive expectations were recorded for the Leisure FIT domestic segment, as ** percent of the survey sample believed that it will return to pre-pandemic levels.
