Due to the crisis of the coronavirus COVID-19, in March 2020 there were a large number of cancellations of hotel reservations in Spain for the Easter holidays of that year. In the Canary Islands, the most affected region, the month-on-month variation rate for the first 17 days of March compared to February 2020 was close to 130%. Across the country, the increase in hotel reservation cancellations compared to the previous month was 40%.
