Non-financial business economy only, excluding agricultural sector and non-market service sectors
Supplementary notes
The figures have been taken from several publications.
The source does not specify whether the figures provided are in FTE or not. Instead it mentions the "number of persons employed", and not whether the figures include full-time and/or part-time employment.
Data are DIW Econ estimates for 2018, based on 2008-2016 Eurostat figures. The source adds the following information: "The data cover the ‘non-financial business economy’, which includes industry, construction, trade, and services (NACE Rev. 2 sections B to J, L, M and N), but not enterprises in agriculture, forestry and fisheries and the largely non-market service sectors such as education and health. The following size-class definitions are applied: micro firms (0-9 persons employed), small firms (10-49 persons employed), medium-sized firms (50-249 persons employed), and large firms (250+ persons employed)."
SMEs in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg employed over ** people in 2023, a figure largely made up companies with ** to *** employees. To compare, the number of people in Luxembourg who were employed in 2018 was around **. One should note, however, that the figures provided here do not include SMEs in finance or agriculture.
