Out of the European countries listed, Germany boasted the greatest distance of tram lines and suburban lines in 2023 and the second-longest metro line after the UK. With the second-largest suburban rail network, the UK also ranked generally highly in terms of its urban rail coverage, although its tram network was the smallest in comparison with Germany, Spain, France, and Italy.
