The data has been obtained by summing the partial values of the selected cities provided by the corresponding public transport authorities, excluding commuter rail and FEVE data.
It should be noted that, according to the source, the totals for buses in the different metropolitan areas "do not include the addends for which information is not available".
The source also adds the following: "In the case of rail modes, the total number of cars in the fleet is counted, except for trams, Renfe, and FEVE, where the total number of trains is counted. Therefore, there is an incompatibility that prevents offering the total veh-km in homogeneous units for rail modes".
