HBO Max announced ’Gone With the Wind’ will eventually return to the platform with a discussion of its historical context and a denouncement of those very depictions of black Americans and slavery. HBO Max’s decision to temporarily withdraw 'Gone With the Wind' due to its negative racial stereotypes was not popular with American adults, with 52 percent of adults surveyed opposed to the removal of the movie. However, when looking at support among ethnic groups, 45 percent of African Americans supported the choice. Despite criticisms of the depictions of Black Americans in the film, 60 percent White adults opposed the action.
