As of 2019, Mauritius, Tunisia and South Africa were considered most prepared to support online shopping in Africa. This according to the UNCTAD B2C E-commcerce Index, which measures the economy's readiness for shopping online in a country based on four categories (internet usage, security, account ownership, and postal reliability). Mauritius reached an index value of **** percent, scoring highest at the account ownership and secure internet servers. Tunisia had a value of ****, whereas South Africa had a B2C E-commerce index value of ****, which made it the **** country in the world.
