Between 2007 and 2018, the number of annual trips made by metro slightly increased in Paris. In 2018, more than 1.5 billion trips were made by metro in Paris compared with less than 1.4 billion in 2007. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of subway trips in Paris and the Île-de-France region decreased sharply, falling to approximately 753 million but rose to over 1.4 billion by 2023.
