Electricity demand in Ecuador reached approximately 1.8 terawatts hours in April 2020, a decrease of 15.3 percent in comparison to February of the same year. Social distancing measures were implemented in the country on March 16, 2020, in face of the COVID-19 pandemic and the increasing number of cases in the country. Since then, the national electricity demand has started to decrease.
