Approximately *** month later, the city's pollution level showed a decrease of ** percent in comparison to the baseline.
Nitrogen dioxide (NOâ‚‚) is a gaseous air pollutant and has a direct connection to fossil fuel emissions. Changes in air pollution levels are related to a reduction in industrial activity and traffic circulation in urban areas, a consequence of lockdown measures enforced globally in an attempt to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The first case of COVID-19 was reported in Ecuador on March 1, with a total lockdown implemented on March 22.
