Consumption of liquid hydrogen in the United States is expected to reach 42,300 metric tons in 2024, an increase from the 2018 consumption of 30,300 metric tons.
Liquid hydrogen is easier to store than gaseous hydrogen, as it requires less storage space. It is a common liquid rocket fuel, used by both NASA and the United States Air Force. It is also used by fuel cell vehicles.
