According to a survey published by in 2019, ** percent of respondents worldwide believed that since technology allows for direct democracy, that the powers of their elected officials should be reduced so that they can have a more direct say in how their country is governed. ** percent of respondents from Colombia believed that direct democracy should be increased because of technology, compared to only ** percent of respondents from the Netherlands who said the same.
