Return on assets (ROA) of Europe's largest insurers 2018
Return on assets (ROA) looks at how well a company's management is in generating earnings from their assets and is used as a key measure of a companies profitability. Viewed as a percentage, the return on assets is calculated by dividing net income by total assets. In 2018, of the insurance companies listed, Swiss headquartered property and casualty insurance company Chubb Limited had the highest ROA ratio.
All companies listed, other than Standard Life Aberdeen Plc saw a positive return on assets in 2018, suggesting that for this period, the UK based Multiline insurance company was making a loss.
