As of May 2019, the non-profit organization Avaaz conducted an investigation which enabled the multi-billion dollar company Facebook to take down ** Italian Facebook pages due to their inauthentic behavior. The pages taken down were spreading hate contents, misleading information, and far-right material. Most of them had a political content, such as "Vogliamo il movimento 5 stelle al governo" and "Lega Salvini Sulmona", which had almost *** thousand and ** thousand followers, respectively. Although some of the Facebook pages closed didn't look political, they were spreading far-right political information, including "I valori della vita" ("The values of life"), which was followed by *** million Facebook users.
