In the year 2000, there were around 3,600 deaths due to measles in Europe. This number dropped to just 386 in 2024. Other world regions also show stark reductions in measles deaths, largely attributed to the measles vaccination. However, in the Eastern Mediterranean and Southeast Asia, even in Europe, the number of measles deaths has increased in 2024 compared to 2019.
