This statistic presents the share of respondents that identified as having participated in football, including indoor, outdoor and * -a- side, from 2015 to 2021, in a survey undertaken to assess the experience of sport in Northern Ireland. The share of the total population of respondent that have played football in Northern Ireland has remained relatively stable. This statistic shows that there is a significant dichotomy between within the participation demographics of football in Northern Ireland. In all years surveyed, the share of male respondents identifying as having played football was shown to be greater than ** percent, whereas the share of female respondents that identified as having played football was only *** percent from 2015 to 2021.
