In 1995, the number of personal computers per capita in Western Europe was 250 per 1,000 people, which is equal to one computer for every four people. When compared with select post-communist economies in Central and Eastern Europe, this was roughly five times the number of computers in Czechia, and 50 times that of Romania. In Russia, there were 18 computers per 1,000 inhabitants in 1995, which was approximately equal to one computer for every 56 people.
