In a survey carried out in June and July of 2019, almost one third of the opinion leaders and prominent journalists surveyed in Chile stated that the inadequate social security system was the most important problem in the South American country. The second most cited issue, mentioned by 19 percent of respondents, was poverty and social inequality. Meanwhile, most Chileans who participated in another recent survey said that criminality was the country's main problem.
