According to a survey conducted in July 2019, **** percent of young Japanese aged between 17 and 19 years old answered that the new consumption tax rate of *** percent was appropriate. The tax increased from percent to *** percent on October 1. One * of respondents were of the opinion that the former rate of percent was appropriate. The long-delayed consumption tax increase was introduced with the aim of funding social welfare programs and reducing public debt.
