Nearly one quarter of respondents in Russia were of the opinion that the Berlin Wall was constructed by East Germany and the Soviet Union, according to results of the survey conducted in November 2019. Other popular responses were that the wall separating West Berlin from East Germany was built by German people themselves, by the United States, England, or the Federal Republic of Germany, or that it was in the interest of both sides of the divided country. As of 2019, 93 percent of Russians heard about the Berlin Wall.
