In a survey carried out in August 2019, around **** of Brazilian respondents agreed that other countries' interest in the Amazon is legitimate. When asked about foreign governments' involvement in the Amazon situation, ** percent of respondents said other countries' interest in the Amazon is legitimate because the rainforest is important for the entire planet and is currently under threat. On the other hand, ** percent of respondents strongly or somewhat agreed with the following statement: 'Other countries' interest in the Amazon is only an excuse to be able to exploit its natural resources'.
