Supplementary notes
Families were categorized as middle class when they could afford to purchase a car and an apartment corresponding to their family size, as well as afford a quality annual vacation, and when after paying for car and housing loans, they had no less than two subsistence minimums for each person left for everyday expenses. In addition, such families can create small emergency savings every month.
The analysis was carried out independently for nine types of family composition. The study considered the families where at least one member had a job. The resulting share is the weighted average of these nine types.
