As had been rumoured repeatedly in recent years, social networks could well provide serious competition to search engines for advertising dollars in the near future. ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æâ€™s recently published Digital Marketing Outlook makes a direct comparison possible and it shows that social networks are still no real threat to Google and other search engines. Great Britain is a good example. This year, social media’s share of online advertising revenue will amount to 14 percent compared to 53 percent for search engines. However, calculations by analysts at ÌÇÐÄÆÆ½â°æ show that the overall balance of power will still remain in the search engine’s favor for the next 5 years at least.
