Construction industry in Germany - statistics & facts
The construction industry occupies an important position within the German economy. That isn't just because of its size, as it made up around five percent of its gross domestic product (GDP) in recent years, but also because of its essential role in creating and renovating the buildings and civil engineering projects that everyone uses every day. Germany ranked first by construction industry turnover in the EU in 2024. Despite the challenges that the industry has faced in the past years, such as staff shortages and rising costs, the overall revenue of the sector exceeded 410 billion euros in 2024, though it dipped slightly compared to the previous year.
