American LGBT Homeownership - statistics & facts

Over the last several years, the proportion of Americans who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender has increased from 3.5 percent in 2012 to 4.5 percent in 2017. As such, the LGBT community make up a significant portion of homeowners or potential home buyers in the United States. However, a 2018 survey found that only 49 percent of members of the LGBT community were homeowners, compared to 64 percent of the general population.
