Golden Globes - statistics & facts
First held in 1944, the Golden Globe Awards entered the 2020s in decline. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), whose mission is to vote every year for the very best in film and television in the United States and abroad, faced strong criticism over suspicions of toxic working environments and a lack of diversity among its members. In 2021, after the Globes recorded the鈥痩owest number of TV viewers鈥痠n the 21st century, the HFPA discontinued the ceremony, and the following year announced the winners via social media. After a major restructuring in 2022, NBC agreed to broadcast the 2023 edition of the ceremony. However, the 2025 edition marks a positive turn for the ceremony with higher ratings and audience figures.
