Climate change has long occupied the minds of scientists and the public alike. Since the 1980s, the world鈥檚 largest climate network, Climate Action Network (CAN) has worked to raise awareness of climate change on a global level, addressing policy, calling for government involvement, and amplifying the voices of people affected by the climate crisis around the globe. More recently, the Fridays for Future movement (also known popularly as School Strike for Climate) spearheaded by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, brought the topic further to the fore.
