The Japanese leisure industry is sizable; the vast majority of people pursue a wide variety of hobbies. The industry is diverse and dynamic, reflecting aged customs and new trends. The various activity categories include sports participation and watching, cultural and performing arts, outdoor activities, and numerous amusement activities. The average daily time spent by Japanese people on hobbies was below one hour, however, this has seen an increase in the past decades, especially for men.
