ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ trend report on Europe's transition from cash to credit cards, debit cards, contactless, and mobile payments

Is Europe becoming a cashless society, and has cash money reached its end? Sweden, in particular, leads the global race to become cash-free, and a country all about electronic money. How does this compare to other European countries, though? Are payment developments in Sweden comparable to developments elsewhere on the continent, or is the Scandinavian country an exception to the rest of Europe?

This report analyses offline and online payments for over 25 different European countries, with comparable and the latest available data, aiming to bring figures on the use of different payment methods together in one place. This study was written with one question in mind: where are Europe's countries in their journey to replace cash money with digital-only payment methods?
