After following mainly an increasing trend in domestic and international air passenger traffic, Turkey suffered significantly from the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic, and the total number of passengers decreased to below ** million for domestic and international flights. In the following years, passenger numbers started to increase again and reached approximately **** million passengers on domestic flights and roughly million on international flights in 2023.
