Retail market overview

In the first quarter of 2023, the Warsaw agglomeration was the largest retail market in Poland. It offered a total retail space area amounting to *** million square meters of Gross Leasable Area. At the same time, medium-sized cities had the most significant shopping center space per 1,000 inhabitants in its agglomeration, with a density rate of *** square meters. The highest vacancy rate of retail space in Poland was recorded in Poznań, amounting to *** percent.

In 2023, retail sales at current prices in Poland, achieved by commercial and non-commercial enterprises, amounted to more than **** trillion zloty and was *** percent higher than in the previous year. Discount stores are becoming increasingly popular in Poland. The leader among them is Biedronka. In the first months of 2022, Biedronka accounted for **** percent of discount store visits.
