At the end of 2023, the natural gas reserves in Italy had a volume of 42 billion cubic meters. This was a notable decrease compared to 2000, when the reserves of natural gas amounted to almost 200 billion cubic meters. Europe was the world's region with the smallest reserves of natural gas, at around three trillion cubic meters.
