Additional information about survey methodology: the survey was carried out in the high cruise ship season (October to March), in two ports: Puntarenas on Costa Rica's Pacific coast and Limón on Costa Rica's Atlantic coast (Caribbean Sea).

Per capita spend by cruise tourists in Costa Rica 2012-2019
Between September 2018 and August 2019, each cruise passenger in Costa Rica spent a little over 46 U.S. dollars on average. This represents an increase of nearly 25 percent versus the average per capita spend in the previous cruise season. In the 2012/2013 period, the average expenditure of cruise tourists in the Central American country reached nearly 80 U.S. dollars.
